ASMUN 2022: Time to thrive

Last Thursday, the 4th edition of ASMUN took place.  

We had enormous plans, but due to the covid restrictions we had to change our plans repeatedly (kind of ironic, seeing the theme). After tackling (almost) every obstacle possible, we made the finish line. But, not without results. Wow, what was it a success. 

We saw happy faces, serious debates, and a lot of laughter. 

Global problems were solved and there may have originated some new collaborations between countries.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the preparations, and not to forget, our amazing delegates!

COVID update ASMUN

Unfortunately, due to unforseable reasons, the ‘Provinciehuis’ is not allowed to welcome this many students, therefore, we had to cancel the participation of the students from Carmel College Emmen.

This means that the conference will be held at CS Vincent van Gogh, Lariks. Meaning that no external guests are allowed to be present at the conference. With a heavy heart, we had to cancel our chairs form Groningen as well.

Nevertheless, we are confident that ASMUN 2022 will be a great success!

Participants 2022

We are delighted to present our honourable delegates of ASMUN 2022. The participating schools are Cs Vincent van Gogh (Assen) and Carmel College (Emmen). The 81 delegations present, will be trained and tutored to make this event succeful once again. We are looking forward to a day full of interesting debates, persuasive speeches and, of course, meeting many new friends.

We are very excited to meet these young talents. Hopefully we will meet you soon at one of the training days.

Time to thrive

The theme for ASMUN 2022 is: ”Time to thrive” with the motto being: ‘If not now, then when?’

The corona pandemic has put our priorities straight. All less important political issues were put on hold. However, our lives were not put on hold. The Earth kept on turning and the world kept on changing. Wars did not pause, addiction problems kept on increasing and children kept on starving. Therefore, we need to stop hiding behind covid-excuses and stand up for our believes. We have to put all our energy into new ideas to find solutions to ancient and modern problems. Only together we can change the future. It is our time to thrive.

With this theme, the six present committees will be focusing on relevant issues that are impacting our future. We are looking forward to a day full of interesting negotiations, educational debates and a lot of fun for the participating schools.
